Get these posh, low carb pancake substitutes down you as a healthy treat to provide rocket fuel to your muscles.
Cheat meals just became everyday health foods thanks to this recipe from Dr Joanna McMillan, a nutrition scientist and author of Get Lean, Stay Lean.
You’ll need
½ peach, sliced
1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
½ cup of egg whites (4-5 egg whites)
125 grams of fat free Greek yoghurt
1 tsp of organic honey
1 tsp organic butter
100ml water (just enough to make a paste out of your protein powder)
What to do
1. Keep adding a dash of water to your whey protein powder in order to create a thick paste that will go into the pan to be lightly fried. Once this has been achieved, mix in the egg whites, which act as secondary source of highly bioavailable protein for muscle growth.
2. Chop a peach in half and create peach slices from one of the halves – discard or save the other half for later. Your peaches offer a man-sized source of vitamins A and C, as well as being a source of fibre and potassium that’ll hike up your ability to recover from training.
3. Begin heating a teaspoon of butter. Rich in fat-burning CLA, you needn’t fear this tiny amount of fat. Once this has evenly spread, pour your crêpe mixture into the pan, covering it equally.
4. Fry for around 15 seconds before flipping over and do the same for the other side. Your batter should provide you with 2 to 3 servings depending on pan size, which works well since these are mega satiating. You can even save one for a yummy, protein-rich bedtime snack.
5. Put your peach slices over the crepes and add a serving of fat-free Greek yoghurt on top for an even bigger protein hit from your crêpes. Your bones will give you a hat tip as they receive 20% of their daily requirement of calcium. Finally, garnish with an optional teaspoon of honey for sweetness.
